Clio & Pokémon

Kihaku, a friend of mine, reminded me of this photo set I shot a few years ago and I ended up going through my files and actually found all the photos. I still like the photos so I thought they'd deserve to see the light of (virtual) day again and what a better place to post them than my new toy blog.
Hope you enjoy them! There are 27 photos in total.

Princess Luna & FlitterHeart

A while ago, I happened to find the set that had the tiny Princess Luna in it. She wasn't on the top of my wishlist but still a lovely addition. I love her glittery horn. :)
I only wished she had her own face mould instead of having her eyes just stuck on top of some other character's mould's eyeholes. They look a bit dumb in real life even if they don't show in photo.
She's also stuck with always looking behind her, with both eyes simultaneously. Haha! Oh well, I still like her in my collection.

I posed her with Flitterheart as their colours matched so nicely.

Glass Eyes & a Box

I ordered some cheap glass eyes from eBay so my new dolls wouldn't be eyeless when they arrive. Turns out I also got what I paid for. The irises of the eyes aren't all that even with their colours and on one golden eye the pupil isn't in the center of the eyeball. I wonder how obvious those flaws will be once they're inside the doll's head? Anyway, not a big loss in the end, and am sure they'll serve their purpose ok till I find better eyes to replace these ones.

A while ago, I found the prettiest box for my doll tools and accessories. Isn't it lovely?

Just looking at it makes me all excited about collecting all these things for dolls, bit by bit. I've grown a habit of opening and closing it just to admire its details. It's quite handy too! It has two "floors" of storage space with tiny compartments and the top "floor" is removable. There's also a mirror, which makes me think this box's original idea was to be a make-up box. I hope it doesn't feel too bad about being something else.

Furby 2012

This time I'm going to talk about Furbies.
When they first came out in 1998 I thought they were the best thing ever. This was when my family didn't have any pets yet so a Furby seemed like the next best thing to a real animal at the time. I had one that was grey with black spots and a pink belly and hair. Looked like this.
Should see if she still hides somewhere around my family's house. We went totally Furby mad with my sister back then and ended up having 4 of these guys in total among us two. Two adult Furbies and two baby ones. Oh boy did we have fun with them! Until they started making buzzing noises and leaking some sorta oil... That was the end of Furbydom. I have a feeling we might have kept one or two though so should go look for one next time I'm in Finland!

Anyway, I only heard about the reboot of the Furby toys about a week ago from a friend of mine and have been totally hyped about Furbies ever since. I can't wait till September! And sure hope they'll come out for sale in September in the UK too because other wise I'll be ridiculously jealous of all the American kids owning one. Haha.
I mean, just look at the video of the new Furby! Don't they look fun? I'm totally saving up for one already and am having hard time deciding between the black and the orange ones.

ABJ dolls

I keep meaning to write about other toys and figures I collect and photograph but I've never gotten around to actually doing something about this. This post will change everything!

I've been collecting Asian ball-jointed dolls since early 2004 and own 6 full dolls at the moment. The amount has changed quite a lot during the years and the most dolls I had at the same time was 12, if I remember correctly. I've then shrunk my collection to include only my absolute favourite ones so I have more time for each one of them. :) Since I moved to England, the doll hobby went on a bit of a hiatus for a couple of years and am slowly coming back to the hobby, with fresh new energy!

I'm currently waiting for two new dolls to arrive. They're petite sized girl dolls with split hooves as their feet. I'm really looking forward to adding them to my lovely collection of dolls. :) In the mean time, I've gathering essential items for them. Like glass eyes, wigs, clothes and new rubber strings to replace the ones they come with. I just got their wigs in the mail today and am SO excited to have something arrive in the mail already! The wigs were made by a fellow Finn at the Finnish doll forum, Hartsilapset.

Even the wrapping of the wigs was lovely!

The doll on the photo above is one of my favourite dolls, named Oliver Keijuhäntä. Her model is Fancyboots' Liebchen and she was made by a hobbyist instead of an Asian doll company. She's very precious.
Her makeup is done by Jesmoth, who's a multi-talented friend of mine.

I will be posting more fun doll-related photos in the future, as well as more My Little Pony related stuff. And possibly photos and stories of other toys and figures I've collected during the years. (There's loads!)

Dogs and a Pony

Spent the Easter holiday at my parents' and sister and me had a blast taking humorous pony photos with our two dogs, Frankie (top 2 pics) and Fonzie (last pic). Funny things. :D

Fluttershy & Autumn Crisp

Received a parcel full of pony goodness the other day and have been admiring them non-stop ever since. It seems like I've ended up having quite many purple ponies. It wasn't intentional but it seems like there are quite many purple ones that are to my liking. :)

Delicious Trio

Pepperdance, Big Macintosh and Cherry Spices. Delicious trio!

I've been lucky enough to find most of the blind bag ponies I've dreamed of thanks to many helpful friends, fellow pony fans and my other half (who's been pony hunting with me so much it's sometimes him who reminds me about checking new stock in stores and keeping an eye on an auction. Ponies change people.)
I'm especially happy about finally succeeding in finding the wave 3 Big Macintosh boy pony (middle in the photo.) I must say it wasn't easy! Every time there'd be new blind bags in the stores in town someone would go and snatch only and exactly him off the boxes. I had already startes suspecting I had a rival in town until I finally found him the other week. Oh boy the pure JOY when I finally found the blind bag #11! Pony hobby makes you feel things you didn't know you could feel.

Also, here's a shot of some of my newest blind bag ponies. They're such a joy to photograph!
From left to right: Minty, Big Macintosh, Sweetcream Scoops, Sweetie Blue, Blumblesweet, Firecracker Burst, Pepperdance and Cherry Spices.
I love their silly names.

Halloween problems :(

I finally received two of my favourite G3 ponies, Abra-ca-Dabra and Pumpkin Tart, in the mail and was so happy to have them on my hands but.. they came with problems. :( I had wanted them with their accessories (black fabric witch hat and cape and black cat ears) but unfortunately they have left horrible stains on the poor ponies. :(

Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the stains? I've never tried sun fading before and was wondering if it'd be something that could solve this stain problem? I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with some advice.
Better pictures of the black stains on them:
The bottom parts of both of Pumpkin Tart's ears have black stains on them. This doesn't bother me so much as she could always wear cute hats or I can just cover it with hair but the situation is much worse with Abra-ca-Dabra.....
Abra-ca-Dabra has stains all over her body from the black cape she came with. Am guessing the material the ponies are made off, absorbs colour from fabric?
I'm sad about Abra-ca-Dabra's condition because she's one of my favourites and now I'm worried she'll have these stains forever. :(

G3 Applejack

Won this pony off eBay for £0.99 last week and like always, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is just that. The seller mentioned on the auction that the pony has a bit musty smell to her but had been aired, so I decided to bid. She was one stinky pony girl when she arrived to me though and had strangely oily/greasy hair as well, so I took her to have a bath straight away.
I managed to get rid of the smell and the oiliness though and now she's all fresh and nice. :) Am very happy with my purchase.
I've been looking for a G3 Applejack for a while and am happy to have one in the herd now. I love the combination of red and green on her. Also, she has a tiny apple in her eye. Funny.

Adventure Girl

Safety first!
Cherry Pie is a pony girl with a taste for adventure~ Luckily she has a good head on her shoulder which she also aims to protect with her cool new helmet.

Similarities

I noticed that G3 Gardenia Glow looks very similar to G4 Snowcatcher.
I wonder what other ponies from different generations look very similar with their colours and cutie marks?

Gardenia Glow

Had to post and extra photo of Gardenia Glow because she's such a beauty. I love the colours so much. :)

Colourful Girls

I've officially fallen in love with the G3 ponies now. I have a wish list and all for them already...
They're so colourful and expressive compared to the G4 ponies.

I won these two girls, Gardenia Glow & Pretty Pop, used from eBay a week ago and I got them yesterday. Both of their hair was a ridiculous mess and I had to try many different ways to untangle and straighten them. My hair straightener did the job in the end and now they're all pretty and nice. :)

Pretty Pop is an amazing little pony. I love the fact that she has a gumball machine as her cutie mark! It's beyond silly but super fun as well. :D These two look very good together as well and I think I'll be standing them next to each other on the shelf as well. They compliment each other's colours nicely.

Blue Girls

Dewdrop Dazzle and Snowcatcher are the blue gems of the herd. No matter where I place them on the pony table they always stand out with their blueness.
I think many collectors have said that they could be sisters because they're both blue and their cutie marks feature similar themes; water and snow. I've kind of decided that they're non-identical twin sisters.
If I was to draw a MLP comic I'd love to draw stories of these two! Maybe someday in the future, when I'm less busy with college, I'll draw some pony comics for fun. :)

I really truly honestly hope that they'll release green ponies in the future for this generation as well. It's like my biggest pony wish at the moment. Less pink and more other colours! I'm 100% certain that pink isn't the only colours little girls (and boys) would choose in a shop. I don't remember being a big fan of pink as a child. I liked all colours! :D

Tuesday 13 March 2012

Cupcake

Cupcake is a lovely pink earth pony. I love that her cutie mark has some glitter/shimmer on it as well. I tried taking a close up of the symbol but unfortunately those ones turned out very blurry. Better luck next time!
The cat friend wasn't the one that came with Cupcake. I just thought they looked nice together being all pink and stuff. :)

If I had to pick a favourite pony type, I'd say earth ponies. I like how simple and honest they are as a pony species. :D

Also! Have you already read about the new bling bag wave? I want like... almost all of them. Awesome that they've included alicorns in this new wave as well. :) Though sadly, this wave doesn't have any earth ponies in it. :(

Piggy

This photo was way too cute not to be posted today as well. ^_^
Have a piggy Monday you all!

Baby Ponies

I finally have my baby pony gang together. On the top photo, from left to right are Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Star Dreams. Everypony's hair is a mess in these photos but what else can you expect from a group of adventurous young ladies anyway?

Thanks to Uninu who helped me to get these Cutie Mark Crusaders. ^_^/

7 facts

I was happily surprised to have been tagged on this Lovely Blog Award by Annukkaisen poniblogi, which is a lovely Finnish pony blog full of fun photos. Worth checking out! ^_^
I'm going to write mine in English as the rest of my blog as well, so my international readers can understand it too. Anyway, these are the guidelines for the award:
1. Link back to the person who awarded you
2. Write 7 random facts about yourself.
3. Award 15 other bloggers

The 7 random facts about me:
1) I waste a lot of time looking at puppy photos online. I have three shortcuts for daily puppy blogs on my browser and follow numerous dog pages on Facebook. They cheer me up so much every time.
2) I'm a passionate comic geek and am especially into indie and self-published comics but will give anything and any genre a try. Most of the books in my shelf are comics.
3) I love science fiction. Predictions and ideas about the far future in space fascinate me and I really enjoy watchings shows and films and readings stories about imaginary creatures and new civilisations. Needless to say it all started when my dad introduced me to Star Wars at a very young age.
4) I surround myself with cute things. I have something cute and cheerful on pretty much every corner that exists in my flat. Figures, toys, plushies, postcards, flowers, key rings, jewellery and fun shaped and coloured kitchen tools and... you name it! Even my sofa is pink just because I thought it was a cute colour for a sofa.
5) I'm super curious about the world and can't stand not knowing an answer to a question. Therefore I read a lot of magazines, news articles and blogs about science and nature. There have been times when I've got up the bed in the middle of the night just to find an answer to a burning question like: "Do whales blink?" just because I was unable to fall asleep without knowing the answer. And yes, they do blink, in case you were wondering. ;)
6) When I was 15 I decided that I would never start drinking alcohol. It's not always easy to be the only teetotaller around and am proud of keeping this promise to myself. I've been lucky enough to find friends and a partner who understand and respect my choice and very often choose to not drink when I'm around. :)
7) I find happiness in small things. Cheesy or not, seeing someone smile, smelling a flower, petting an animal, small talk with a stranger, nice weather, bird singing and seeing a happy couple holding hands are things that make my day. I like to think every trip outside is a small adventure because you never know what nice things you might encounter even on your way to the supermarket.

There we go. An assorted collection of facts about lil' old me. :)

My blog is still so new I'm not following very many people and the ones I'd like to award have already done this so I'll just say I'll award all my readers! ;)

Diamond Rose & Cherry Pie

I love these girls a lot! They have such wonderful colours to them. :)
A helpful member at MLP Arena bought these two and other ponies for me in the US. They're some of the newest ponies that have come out this year and I don't think I've seen anyone find them in Europe yet. Hopefully they'll come here as well so other pony fans can enjoy their cuteness as well. :)
Diamond Rose seems to be the more popular one out of them. She's really cute with her pink mane and the diamond symbol but there's something about Cherry Pie that I really like as well. Even though she's yet another pink-bodied pony in the collection her mane makes it all more interesting. I love that it has two different tones of yellow in it. I need to think of a way to style her mane so that these two yellows are more visible. :)

I love adding the tiny animal characters in photos. They make shots funnier. For example, in this one it looks like the tiny mouse is trying real hard to join the two pony girls' conversation. :D

Pony Creator

I made a pony version of myself on the Pony Creator and got so into it I made a version of my other half as well. We look dashing.
Mine has true-to-life kinda hair colour as well as freckles. White body colour and pink nose are because I like white and am also very pale skinned, blush easily and my nose is always red. My cutie mark is a dog's paw with an upside down heart symbol as the middle. Simply because I love dogs (and other animals) and am also very romantic person. :) My boyfriend's hair colour is true-life-ish as well, he's got a tiny beard (they didn't have bigger ones!) and cool black-framed glasses. :) He likes good stories and reads a lot so a book seemed like a good cutie mark for him.
I kind of want to get custom ponies of us now.... Haha. :D

My little sister made one of herself as well.
I love how grumpy she made her pony version look. :D My sister has blonde hair and glasses and that body colour is one of her favourites. She couldn't decide on a cutie mark yet though. They're surprisingly hard to come up with!

Picnic

I read in the forums that UK people had seen a couple of MLP play sets for sale at John Lewis and of course, I couldn't rest before I went to check one out in London. I was planning to buy the Sweet Slumbers set but absolutely fell in love with all the accessories in Cherilee's Picnic set as well. That hat, the parasol and those fun animals! Haha, so I left the store with two play sets instead.
So glad I got the picnic one though! I had a blast photographing my ponies with it even though these are just really quick shots I took during my work break. :) I really need to think of some other backgrounds for my photos as well as this one is getting a bit boring after so many uses. Luckily I live next to a craft store so shouldn't be that hard to come up with something.

Snowcatcher and Skywishes wanted to join in the picnic as well, apparently to get a bite out of some cabbage. Such a healthy picnic! No cakes or biscuits at all. :D
I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with everypony's hair though. I'm in the middle of film production so time is limited so I guess I will pay more attention to my ponies once things calm down a bit.

Oh, also! I do wonder what the pink squirrel is plotting with an expression like this?

Too Much Pony

I've gone a bit pony crazy during the past month and have so many friends and fellow hobbyists fetch me ponies I sometimes feel like running a pony mafia.
I've had many (almost too many) additions to my herd this week. One of the most fun ones being a box that came from the USA and was full of single ponies! I almost shrieked in joy when I saw what the mailman had in his hand. Ahem..

Anyway, I'm in the middle of sorting some of my ponies hair out. Some of them had really ratty and tangled hair out of the box. I've got a row of the drying in the kitchen this very second. Hopefully their hair is more manageable after they've dried. :)

Will post photos later this week when I find more time among college work. Looking forward to photographing everypony already!

Tuesday 6 March 2012

Minty & Sweetberry

I seem to be dangerously close to falling in love with the G3 ponies as well.
These two, Minty and Sweetberry, are my little sister's old ponies which she bought as a kid with her own money. She was the age when children feel like they shouldn't be playing with toys anymore but are still unable to stop admiring new toys in stores. She fell in love with these two ponies though and took them to the cashier all embarrassed and stuff. And am glad she did! Because now we have two adorable pony toys with an interesting backstory! My sister kept them really well and brushed their hair regularly to keep them straight and silky. :)
She sent them to me last week because I asked if I could put them on display as she was keeping them in a box.

After admiring these two for a week or so I'm beginning to dream of getting more G3 ponies. I've got my eye on a couple of pretty ones and have been secretly bidding on some of them on eBay in case I'd win them with ridiculously low prices. But so far I've had no luck with any of them. Guess it's because I'm expecting to win them with just a couple of pounds. Heh. :)
I really like Twirlerina and have been trying to find her with a reasonable price. She's the perfect colour and has glitter and everything!

I'm trying to control my need to get G3 ponies though. I don't want to end up struggling to find space for my ponies and I don't want to end up having to keep them in a box, out of sight. So I'm only letting myself pick a couple of favourites and that's it. :) G4 are my main target anyway.

Monday 5 March 2012

Honeybuzz

Honeybuzz is one of my newest additions to the pony herd. She was one of my favourite ones among all the ones that have been released so far so I was very happy to have won her off eBay for a reasonable price. :) The bumble bee cutie mark is probably the cutest one so far!

While I've been photographing ponies, I've noticed that a couple of them have kind of developed a "photograph personality". Don't know how to really begin explaining this but I'll try anyway! It feels like they photograph the best from certain angles and in certain poses depending on which pony I'm shooting. For example, Lily Blossom looks the best in photos that have been taken really close to her face and right in front of her and I feel like Rarity looks her best when she turns her head to look behind her. It's kinda like giving personalities to the ponies with the camera. :D I wonder if this is something that happens to other collectors who photographs their figures a lot or is this because I spend too much time with my ponies? Haha. :D Either way I'm quite enjoying photographing my precious little plastic horses!
